What is Interlibrary Loan, and How Does It Work?

Picture

Through the interlibrary loan program, we can request books for you from libraries across Ontario and Manitoba. If we don't have it, we will do our best to get it!

Only certain kinds of items are eligible for the interlibrary service. DVDs, CDs and other non-book materials are now eligible. Note that we are unable to request items published in the current or previous calendar year. Rare or fragile books may also be unavailable to travel. Due to funding cuts by the Ontario government, some libraries in Southern Ontario have reduced or suspended their interlibrary loan services. We regret we may be unable to obtain certain items because of these reductions. Check out the Ontario interlibrary loan catalogue here.

To place an interlibrary loan request, please call or email the library. It is helpful to have both the author and title of the book you're looking for. Once ordered, it normally takes a few weeks for a request to arrive.
