How Do I Get a Library Card?

Library cards are FREE for residents of the Town of Rainy River, the Township of Dawson, the Township of Lake of the Woods, and the Township of Morley. A resident is someone who lives in or pays taxes in these places.
Cards are also free for members of the Arrowhead Regional Library in Baudette, Minnesota, the Emo Township Public Library, the Fort Frances Public Library, the Atikokan Public Library, and the Big Grassy River First Nation Public Library. You must present your Baudette, Emo, Fort Frances, Atikokan, or Big Grassy River First Nation card to receive your membership at Rainy River. Note that your home library's card itself is not accepted at Rainy River - you must have a separate Rainy River membership.
Children must have a parent or guardian co-sign their membership.
Non-residents may buy a card for $40 per year. Note that non-resident fees apply to the unincorporated townships of Nelles, Pratt, Spohn, and Sutherland, as well as the Big Island First Nation. These charges apply because these areas do not pay into the Rainy River Public Library system.
If you are only here for the summer, you can buy a six-month membership for $25.
If you lose your library card, tell us as soon as possible. The replacement card fee is $1.00.
Please show your card on each visit to the library. Staff will update your personal information every two years.
Please let us know about changes of address or telephone number as soon as possible.
