BiblioMagpie

BiblioMagpie is a volunteer effort to compile a current, accurate list of links for Ontario public libraries. Version 1.0 of this list was uploaded August 24, 2021. I have invested time in this list as there does not appear to be a comparable, publicly-available directory on-line. The list currently displayed by the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture Industries is literally years out of date - many of the links are broken. As well, OLS(-North) appears to have discontinued the Ontario Public Library Directory, which used to be a reliable source for this information.

Due to the size of the table in the document, you may need to set the zoom on your PDF viewing application to about 400%.

The information in this document is publicly available on-line. I own nothing except the name "BiblioMagpie."

Notes to the document:

1. The list includes links to each library's website homepage and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, and TikTok). The homepage is not necessarily the local municipality's page describing library services.

2. If current links could not be found for most (or all) of these categories, there are three "Other" fields to share some information about the Library from third-party sources or about the entity that runs the library.

3. The list notes the geographic region in which each library is located. The regions are composed of the Statistics Canada Census Divisions.
   a. Northwest...includes Kenora, Rainy River and Thunder Bay.
   b. Northeast...includes Algoma, Cochrane, Greater Sudbury, Manitoulin, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Sudbury (District) and Timiskaming.
   c. East...includes Frontenac, Hastings, Lanark, Leeds-Grenville, Lennox and Addington, Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Prince Edward, Renfrew, and Stormont Dundas and Glengarry.
   d. Central...includes Dufferin, Durham, Haliburton, Halton, Hamilton, Kawartha Lakes, Muskoka, Niagara, Northumberland, Peel,  Peterborough, Simcoe, Toronto, and York.
   e. Southwest...includes Brant, Bruce, Chatham-Kent, Elgin, Essex, Grey, Haldimand-Norfolk, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, Oxford, Perth, Waterloo, and Wellington.

4. Libraries shown in italics are not included the 2020 list of libraries submitting Annual Surveys to the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture Industries. This may mean these libraries have suspended or ceased operations.

5. It was not clear to me if the libraries at the end of the list are still operating.

6. This is a volunteer effort.
